In Gan Chaverim we read First Day Jitters by Julie Danneberg. The main character in this book is worried about her first day of school and does not want to go. We assumed that this main character was a child but at the end of the book we discovered that it was the teacher who was nervous to start school! We talked about our feelings about starting school. Did you feel happy, sad, worried or excited? We made a graph of our feelings and discovered that while most of the children in the class were excited to begin school, some children also felt worried.
