King Ahashverosh's party

The children in Gan Chaverim were invited to a party at King Ahashverosh's castle! When they came to school on Tuesday, our classroom was transformed into a castle. The children had painted murals to hang around the doorway and when they entered the room, they found all sorts of treats to enjoy. Our room was filled with Princesses and princes eating and drinking to their hearts content!

Cleaning Pennies

What's the best way to clean and shine a penny? Should we use soap, plain water, salty water or ketchup? The children made predictions as to which substance would be the best penny cleaner. Most of the children thought soap would get our pennies the shiniest. However, after working hard to clean our pennies with all the substances, we discovered that ketchup works best! What a surprise!

Hebrew Snow Activity

With snow all around us, Gan Chaverim has been learning all about winter. We dressed our classmate up into a snow man.One by one, the children named different articles of clothing the snow man was missing for the cold weather. We dressed our snow man in a hat, scarf, coat, gloves, and boots. While dressing our snow man, we learned how to say each word in Hebrew. Winter clothing words: מעיל, כפפות, כובע, צעיף, מגפיים. Our letter for the week is ח for חורף- winter.

Germs!

This week in Gan Chaverim we have been learning about germs that make us sick. We made our own representations of germs! We used eyedroppers to drop blobs of thinned paint on our paper. Then we used straws to blow the paint in all different directions. When the paint dried, we added googly eyes and used markers to add features to our germs.
